MISSION STATEMENT The Miami Acting Company seeks to promote awareness and appreciation of the performing arts in Miami-Dade County and its surrounding communities through the presentation of live theatrical performances. We are also dedicated to the support of philanthropic causes that would benefit from utilizing our programs for fund raising purposes.
STAFF DEBRA GINSBERG (Executive Producing Artistic Director) Originally from New York, Debra’s long acting career as a dedicated performer in numerous community and professional theatrical productions combines with a career as a director and producer. Recently she directed and co-produced the Miami Stage Company’s production of Noises Off and critically acclaimed CATS, which was a national first and triumphant Community Theater undertaking. Other directorial credits include The Ocean Reef Yacht Club's version of American Idol and Sacha in Concert (in which she also performed), The Odd Couple, An Evening To Remember (The Wilton Theater, CT) and several Miami productions of Who Killed The Director for which she received several awards. Her acting, singing, and dancing talents have also won her awards as Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress for her roles "Miss Hannigan" in Annie and "Widow Corney" in Oliver. She has costarred in a Philip Michael Thomas and Sandi Morais production of Sacha (Hollywood Playhouse) and stepped-in as “Harriet The Horrible Owl” and “The Mother” in Sacha on Broadway (Riverside Theatre, New York City.) Her numerous performing credits include the "Wicked Stepmother" in Cinderella (Actors Playhouse) as well as many starring and featured roles including Hello Dolly, Candide, Cabaret, Carousel, Lost in Yonkers, Blithe Spirit, CATS, Songs for a New World, Godspell, Some Enchanting Evening, and The Seven Year Itch. Although Debra has enjoyed a successful 28-year career on Wall Street she has never lost her love for the theater. http://debraginsberg.net/ MANUEL CARBALLEA (General Manager) has been involved in Theatre for over 10 years. Manny is a Director & Board Member of Just the Funny, Miami's Home for Improv and Sketch Comedy. In 2005, he assisted in the production of the nationally renowned Miami Improv Festival 2005, presented by JTF. Manny has many years of corporate experience having worked in a Fortune 500 company since 2001. He also holds Bachelor and Masters degrees from the University of Miami (Go 'Canes!). BILL ALTFIELD (Business Manager) is a true native Miamian, having been born and living here for most of his life. He is a senior public corruption prosecutor with the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office. However, he has had a life-long passion for the theater having attained an Associates degree in Acting from the Florida School of the Arts and a Bachelor in Fine Arts in Theater from the University of Miami. Bill has been very active with Community Theater in Miami-Dade including The Country Club of Coral Gables, TZIC Players, Palmer Trinity School, the Miami Civic Theater, the Dave and Mary Alper JCC Players, the Miami Children's Theater and as a Board Member of the Miami Stage Company which produced one of the first community theater productions of CATS performed in the United States. He was recently seen in Cabaret and he starred as "Felix Ungar" in The Odd Couple. He also played the role of "Hysterium" in A Funny Thing Happened on The Way to The Forum. He also directed the JCC Player's last, yet most successful JCC production, of Rogers and Hammerstein's Oklahoma! where he also filled in as the understudy for "Will Parker." Other featured roles include "Nicely Nicely Johnson" from Guys and Dolls, "Commander Harbison" and the understudy for "Emil Lebecq" in Rogers and Hammerstein's South Pacific. He most recently performed the role of "Alonzo" in CATS. MANNY A.F. (Marketing Director) is thrilled to be joining the Miami Acting Company (MAC) after recently working two successful seasons at the GablesStage, which included productions of The Pillowman (Carbonell Best Play nominee), The Retreat from Moscow (Carobonell Best Play nominee), and Frozen (Carbonell Best Play). Manny graduated from the University of Miami with a dual degree in Theater Arts and Motion Pictures. While at UM, he served as the Film Department Head for Quantum Entertainment, an on-campus film and theater organization. Directing credits include: Closer, Romeo and Juliet, The Scottish Play, The Monsters are Due on Maple Street, Edges, and Grease. He has also contributed to over a dozen productions as Stage Manager, Set Designer, Choreographer, Artistic Director, Marketing Director, and Producer. Throughout South Florida, Manny has worked with numerous theater organizations including Mad Cat Theatre Group, The Theatre Institute, and the Jerry Herman Ring Theatre. TERRY MEDINA (Company Associate)
BOARD OF DIRECTORS RANDY LICHTMAN, MHSA, NHA, CLU (Chairman) has been involved in music direction and musical theatre for over 25 years. He graduated from Michigan State University with two bachelor’s of music degrees, and is an alumnus of Interlochen National Music Camp. In addition, he holds a master’s degree in Health Services Administration from Florida International University. Randy has been the Musical Director/Conductor for several South Florida organizations, including Miami Stage Company/Miami Children’s Theatre (CATS, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Cabaret, West Side Story), TZIC Players (Sweet Charity, A Chorus Line), the Community Theatre of Miami Lakes (The Music Man), Coral Gables Country Club (Cole, A Grand Night for Singing), and is the founding director of the Alper JCC Players (Oklahoma, Guys and Dolls, Hello, Dolly!, South Pacific, Fiddler on the Roof, Oliver, and more). Among his many community affiliations, he was the 2005-2006 President of the Rotary Club of Miami Lakes, and is a past president and current member of South Dade Toastmaster’s. Professionally, Randy is an adjunct professor of business at Miami Dade College and president of RBL Insurance and Financial Group, through which he provides life, health, disability, and long-term care insurance and retirement programs, and shows people many ways to "orchestrate their dreams."
